The Howard Hughes Corp. has started construction on the new Las Vegas Ballpark, the future home of the Las Vegas 51s, a Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. The groundbreaking ceremony has recently taken place in the presence of the\u00a0Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Major League Baseball executives, community leaders, and the team\u2019s fans.<\/p>\n

The stadium for the city\u2019s professional Minor League Baseball team is going to be built in Downtown Summerlin<\/a>, within a planned community in the Las Vegas<\/a> Valley. The roughly 8-acre site is located near the intersection of South Town Center Drive and West Sahara Avenue, and south of the City National Arena, the practice facility of the Vegas Golden Knights National Hockey League team.<\/p>\n

“Developing the Las Vegas Ballpark in the heart of Downtown Summerlin is symbolic of our focus on creating dynamic experiences and making entertainment and culture a central component of our communities,” stated David Weinreb, CEO of The Howard Hughes Corp.<\/p>\n

The stadium is designed to offer fans a festival-like atmosphere and will provide various seating options, including 20 suites, party zones, decks, bars, a kids\u2019 zone, and a pool, with the parking spaces located on adjacent sites. Las Vegas Ballpark, Downtown Summerlin\u2019s second major sports facility, will have a 10,000-seat capacity and will help strengthen the community\u2019s position as a sports and entertainment hub by hosting civic, nonprofit, community, and sporting events. More apartments for rent in Las Vegas<\/a> will probably be planned for construction as the city develops further.<\/p>\n

The Las Vegas 51s, a Pacific Coast League team formerly known as the\u00a0Las Vegas Stars, were founded in 1983 and are fully owned by The Howard Hughes Corp. The construction works for the new stadium cost $150 million and are expected to be completed in time for the team\u2019s 2019 season.<\/p>\n
