German real estate investor DWS has received board approval to move forward with the renovation and expansion project of the medical office complex at 50 and 60-62 Staniford Street, in Boston\u2019s West End neighborhood.<\/p>\n

The company has recently announced that the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) and the Public Improvement Commission, along with other agencies, have cleared the design review for the upgrade of the two-property complex.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe repositioning of these Staniford Street medical office buildings will aesthetically enhance the building\u2019s 1970s-era profile in the West End, offer street-level community amenities and improve pedestrian access by providing off-street patient drop-off to this highly utilized facility,\u201d said Todd Henderson, head of real estate for DWS Americas.<\/p>\n

The project involves linking the 10-story tower at 50 Staniford Street with the two-story building at 60-62 Staniford by connecting their lobbies and ground floors. Upon completion, the ground- and lower-level floors of the combined properties will benefit from 19,500 square feet of additional space.<\/p>\n

The buildings will feature an enlarged lobby with a new main entrance on William Cardinal O\u2019Connell Way, and a dedicated pick-up and drop-off point at the rear plaza, aimed to accommodate the high volume of patients coming through. Furthermore, the space addition will create room for up to three retail or medical office tenants on the ground level, and will benefit from a dedicated corner entrance at 60 Staniford Street and a dedicated lower level entrance at 62 Staniford Street.<\/p>\n

The Class B multi-tenant medical complex is home to some of Boston\u2019s<\/a> main medical facilities.
