With a global workforce of over 135,000 employees, the company has also signaled an upcoming hiring spree to fill over 10,000 full-time jobs in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Shifts in online ad spending increased the company\u2019s earnings in 2020, and Google is now looking to invest that money into expanding its presence outside Silicon Valley. Additionally, an internal survey revealed that most Google employees would prefer a flexible arrangement \u2013 whereby they could come into the office a few days a week \u2013 providing another justification for the company to hold on to its existing offices.<\/p>\n<div class=\"infogram-embed\" data-id=\"74fa283e-b0eb-4d6e-b241-d941ea984b2f\" data-type=\"interactive\" data-title=\"Google locations\"><\/div>\n<p><script>!function(e,i,n,s){var t=\"InfogramEmbeds\",d=e.getElementsByTagName(\"script\")[0];if(window[t]&&window[t].initialized)window[t].process&&window[t].process();else if(!e.getElementById(n)){var o=e.createElement(\"script\");o.async=1,o.id=n,o.src=\"https:\/\/e.infogram.com\/js\/dist\/embed-loader-min.js\",d.parentNode.insertBefore(o,d)}}(document,0,\"infogram-async\");<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Pichai highlighted plans for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiercetelecom.com\/telecom\/google-outlines-7b-u-s-data-center-office-investment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">new data centers and offices in Minnesota, Texas, and North Carolina<\/a>. Google has recently established its first office in Rochester, Minn., and will build a cloud engineering hub in Durham, N.C., as well as a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/office\/us\/tx\/houston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">office space in Houston<\/a>. The tech giant also plans to expand its Loudon County data center in Virginia and invest in its Austin, Atlanta campuses.<\/p>\n<p>Before Seattle became the playground of companies like Apple, Facebook, Twitter and Salesforce, Google had been a stable presence in the area since 2004. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geekwire.com\/2021\/google-still-betting-new-offices-plans-hire-10000-invest-7-billion-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ongoing construction work at Kirkland Urban campus<\/a> \u2013 just east of Seattle \u2013 and Block 38 at 520 Westlake \u2013 one of five buildings at Google\u2019s future South Lake Union campus, near Amazon\u2019s world headquarters \u2013 highlights the company\u2019s commitment to investing in its longtime bases as well.<\/p>\n<p>Although still in third place \u2013 behind both Amazon and Microsoft \u2013 Google has made progress in the cloud provider market, doubling its number of data centers nationwide since 2018.
