The Canadian wealth management company will occupy roughly 20,000 square feet of prime <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/office\/us\/fl\/miami\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami office space<\/a> on the 48<sup>th<\/sup> floor of 830 Brickell, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/commercialobserver.com\/2021\/09\/ci-financial-miami-hq-830-brickell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">45,000-square-foot expansion option<\/a> in the future. Currently owned by Cain International and OKO Group, the 55-story tower is scheduled for completion by 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The lessee was represented by Avison Young\u2019s Donna Abood and Mark Robbins, while Brian Gale, Ryan Holtzman and Andrew Trench of Cushman &amp; Wakefield conducted negotiations on behalf of the landlords.<\/p>\n<p>The tenant plans to move in by the end of next year, and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/southflorida\/news\/2021\/09\/15\/ci-financial-brings-us-headquarters-to-miami.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">relocating its national operations and employees to handle its platform in the U.S., which is known as CI Private Wealth<\/a>. Meanwhile, management will be dividing its time between the firm\u2019s Miami and Toronto offices.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19834\" style=\"width: 1190px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19834\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19834\" src=\"https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/Brickell-Center-1.jpg\" alt=\"Miami office\" width=\"1180\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/Brickell-Center-1.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/Brickell-Center-1.jpg?resize=150,59 150w, https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/Brickell-Center-1.jpg?resize=591,231 591w, https:\/\/www.commercialcafe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/Brickell-Center-1.jpg?resize=768,300 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1180px) 100vw, 1180px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-19834\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brickell City Center, Miami<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With construction still underway, 830 Brickell is already 40% pre-leased, having previously signed private equity firm Thoma Bravo for 36,500 square feet and Microsoft for 50,000 square feet.<\/p>\n<p>Both New York and Dallas were on CI Financial\u2019s shortlist for its new base of operations in the U.S., but Miami ended up being the Toronto-based company\u2019s preferred choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiami is an incredible place to establish our U.S. headquarters and support our fast-growing U.S. business,\u201d said Kurt MacAlpine, chief executive officer of CI Financial. \u201cIt serves as the next logical step for our expansion plans as we work to build the leading high-net-worth wealth management platform in the country. In addition, Miami is a vibrant, multicultural city that offers a deep talent pool, an attractive location for recruiting and a very business-friendly environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miami\u2019s mayor, Francis Suarez, added, \u201cCI Financial is the largest financial institution to ever place a headquarters in South Florida. The significance of this cannot be overstated and moves us further towards our goal to become the \u2019capital of capital.\u2019 We thank Kurt MacAlpine, the board of directors, their executive team, and our own Venture Miami team for supporting their move to the City of Miami.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, CI Financial isn\u2019t the only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloombergquint.com\/onweb\/ci-financial-joins-finance-migration-trend-with-miami-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">big name in finance and investing growing its presence in the South Florida market<\/a>.
