Venice is a growing coastal city in Sarasota County along Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. The city had an estimated population of 30,477 in 2025, representing approximately 19.6% growth from the 2020 population estimates base. Located just south of Sarasota, Venice combines a historic downtown, Gulf Coast beaches and an established residential community. The city is especially popular among retirees, with residents age 65 and older comprising approximately 61.4% of the population. Historic Downtown Venice is known for its Mediterranean inspired architecture, palm lined streets and pedestrian friendly atmosphere. Venice Beach is located less than a mile from downtown, providing convenient access between the city's commercial district and Gulf Coast recreation. Venice offers approximately 14 miles of Gulf Coast beaches with opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking and other outdoor activities. Venice Beach is a Certified Blue Wave Beach, while the surrounding coastline is nationally recognized for its abundance of fossilized shark teeth, earning Venice the nickname “Shark Tooth Capital of the World.” Venice continues to benefit from growth throughout the greater Sarasota County market. Sarasota County's population was estimated at approximately 479,958 in 2025, while Venice has experienced particularly strong growth in recent years. The city's expanding population, coastal setting, historic character and proximity to Sarasota support its position as an attractive residential, tourism and commercial destination along Florida's Southwest Coast.-
