The City of Decatur is located in Macon County in the central region of Illinois. Decatur is approximately 40 miles west of Champaign-Urbana (University of Illinois), 40 Miles south of Bloomington (Illinois State University and State Farm), and 40 miles east of Springfield (Illinois State Capitol). Decatur is part of the Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The region is served by an extensive transportation network. Other significant employers are Decatur Public School District, Decatur Memorial Hospital, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, and Millikin University.
