Endorsement
In real estate, an endorsement is most often an addition to a title insurance policy that changes or extends its standard coverage. Endorsements can address specific risks such as encroachments, zoning compliance, access rights, environmental conditions, or lease-related issues.
Lenders and buyers often require particular endorsements to fit the policy to a deal’s risks, and each one usually carries its own premium. The point is to line the title coverage up with the property’s particular characteristics and what the insured party needs.
