Brand Street Nabs Connecticut Retail Center in Hartford Suburb
Greenwich, Conn.-based property management company Brand Street Properties, in partnership with asset management firm Barings, recently announced their joint acquisition of The Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, Conn.
A regional hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment, The Shops at Evergreen Walk is a premier open-air lifestyle shopping destination that has undergone redevelopment and repositioning in the last few years. Celebrating more than two decades since its completion, the property has become one of the most dynamic retail destinations in the region and is known for its generous calendar of seasonal events, family-friendly programming and experiential offerings that extend beyond traditional retail.
“The Shops at Evergreen Walk is a high-quality, well-located retail asset that aligns with our strategy of investing in dominant open-air centers in strong suburban markets,” said Chris Cassella, managing director at Barings. “South Windsor benefits from attractive demographics and sustained consumer demand, and we believe Evergreen Walk is well-positioned for long-term performance.”
Conveniently located along Interstate 84 off the interchange with Interstate 291, the property encompasses more than 382,000 square feet of suburban Hartford, Conn., retail space that’s home to a thoughtfully curated tenant roster, which includes: Whole Foods Market, lululemon, Golf Lounge 18, J.Crew Factory, Gap Factory, Nike, and Bluemercury, in addition to a growing mix of specialty retailers, dining and service-oriented businesses.

Brand Street Properties and Barings plan to continue capital improvements and enhancements to customers’ experience with plans including refreshing common areas and expanding events designed to drive traffic and strengthen community connections.
Located a few miles northeast of Hartford, The Shops at Evergreen Walk also includes shared office and medical office spaces and is part of a master-planned community where developments include a 200-unit apartment complex; a 400-unit senior and assisted living development; a 110-room Cambria Hotel; and a Costco Wholesale.
