Biomedical product manufacturer Cerus Corp. is consolidating its presence in Concord, Calif., its home city, by entering a long-term lease agreement with Sierra Pacific Properties, the manager of the office building at 1200 Concord Ave.

The company has recently signed an 11-year lease for a 65,092-square-foot space within the recently repositioned and rebranded property, which is part of the Concord Airport Plaza.

“We are pleased to be staying in the city of Concord where the company was founded over 25 years ago. Concord’s central East Bay location allows us to recruit from a great pool of talent in the region. In addition, the new lease allows us to consolidate our existing facilities under one roof as the company grows,” William Greenman, president & chief executive officer of Cerus, said in a statement.

Active in the field of blood transfusion safety, the company was attracted to the six-story mid-rise by the landlord’s plan to complete a multi-million-dollar cosmetic and functional transformation of the property. The real estate developer is set to renovate the lobby and to add new amenities to the 1989-built Class B office center.

Upon completion, the mid-rise will feature a tenant conference center with a separate break room and an adjacent exterior patio meeting area, as well as a fitness center equipped with interactive cardio machines, strength stations, free weights, and stretching areas with adjacent showers. Furthermore, the center-fountain courtyard will include collaboration areas.

Cerus will share the property with six other companies active in a variety of fields, such as accounting, construction or real estate. The building’s tenant roster includes construction management company KSD Group, accounting firm Bedinger & Co., and commercial property manager company Reynolds & Brown, per Yardi Matrix data. The latest addition to the roster is HomeBridge Financial Services, a privately held, non-banking company that rented a 3,597-square-foot space within the building.

Located at 1200 Concord Ave., the 185,513-square-foot property is part of Concord Airport Plaza, a two-building office com

plex. The second building within the complex is a 175,153-square-foot mid-rise constructed in 1987 at 1220 Concord Ave. Currently, that building houses only one tenant, Wells Fargo, which leased a 73,911-square-foot space.
