Landlord

A landlord is the owner, or lessor, who leases space to tenants in return for rent. The role carries duties: keeping the property maintained, meeting the standards set in the lease, and honoring the rest of its terms.

Landlords range from individual investors to large institutions like REITs and pension funds. Whatever the size, their rights and obligations come from the lease, local law, and property-specific rules covering things like common area maintenance, capital improvements, and tenant relations.
