Real Estate Agent

A real estate agent is a licensed professional who represents buyers, sellers, landlords, or tenants in a transaction. In commercial work, agents tend to specialize by property type, office, retail, industrial, or multifamily, and handle marketing, market analysis, negotiation, and the mechanics of the contract.

Agents work under a licensed broker and earn their income through commissions. Depending on the agency relationship, an agent may owe fiduciary duties to a client, meaning they have to act in that client’s best interest. Keeping their license current and staying on top of the market are part of the job.
