Major local law firm Bass, Berry & Sims PLC recently announced that it would be relocating its headquarters to Nashville Yards. The firm will join local company Pinnacle Financial Partners, which announced in June that it would anchor Southwest Value Partners’ (SVP) 35-story office development.

Bass, Berry & Sims PLC will occupy the top eight floors of the tower, which broke ground just last month. The law firm’s lease will include roughly 180,000 square feet of class A+ Nashville office space. With a future address of 201 Platform South, the tower will be adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Nashville and the two Amazon Nashville towers. Upon completion, the trapezoidal-shaped building will encompass 650,000 square feet of office space and roughly 28,000 square feet for retail.

“We have a 100-year history of investing in the growth and vitality of downtown Nashville,” said Todd Rolapp, managing partner of Bass, Berry & Sims. “We are excited to continue this tradition by relocating to Nashville Yards, a premier location with a vibrant environment that allows us to meet the evolving needs of our people and our clients.”

Cary Mack, managing partner of Southwest Value Partners, added in a prepared statement: “Bass, Berry & Sims is one of the preeminent law firms in the Southeast and nationally, and we couldn’t be more enthusiastic about their decision to relocate their headquarters to Nashville Yards. In our interactions, Bass, Berry & Sims was intently focused on building their presence in an exceptional space and community for the benefit of their clients and their people. We’ve worked hard to elevate our work/live/enjoy design and master plan to ensure we can exceed their expectations and help them achieve their strategic goals.”

Southwest Value Partners has curated an impressive tenant roster thus far for its 18-acre, 5-million-square-foot, mixed-use business park in downtown Nashville. Earlier this year, the developer announced its first “founding partner” agreement with Pinnacle Financial. The Nashville-based bank will move its headquarters to 201 Platform South and, in addition to occupying roughly 95,000 square feet of office space across four floors in the building, will also don its name atop the tower to become the site’s exclusive banking partner.

“Pinnacle is Nashville’s bank, and so we always like to help drive the next frontier in downtown development,” said Terry Turner, president and CEO of Pinnacle. “We were one of the first businesses to move into SoBro when Symphony Place opened 11 years ago. Now, as Nashville Yards ushers in the next phase for the business district north of Broadway, we’re only too happy to be on the frontlines, once again. This time, it goes well beyond being just a tenant. The partnership between Southwest Value Partners and Pinnacle ensures that we’ll be an integral part of Nashville Yards as a whole.”

Last month, SVP announced its second founding partner agreement for the Nashville Yards development — an exclusive deal with publicly traded Illinois insurance firm Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. According to statements released regarding the partnership, Gallagher will benefit from an array of advertising rights across the site, as well as being the exclusive provider for business services like benefits consulting and risk management to the Nashville Yards team.

“They fit really, really well with the other brands we’ve associated with,” Mack said. “They’ve assisted us with the risk management and insurability aspects of the site, so I know how hard they work.”
