NKF Secures Unity Health Care Office Lease in Washington DC
Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) announced the signing of a 27,912-square-foot lease with Unity Health Care at the Federal Gateway building in Southeast Washington, D.C. The deal that NKF closed on behalf of property owner WC Smith keeps the Navy Yard office building at 100% occupancy, as it places the new tenant in the space vacated by Alion Science & Technology.
Unity is a federally qualified health center that provides care to the homeless, the uninsured, and those of immigrant status, by linking patients to the organization’s network of primary care physicians. Following a successful partnership with Howard University Hospital, Unity’s administrative headquarters operations have outgrown the space that the non-profit currently occupies at Maritime Plaza II.
The relocation to 1100 New Jersey Avenue SE brings Unity into an amenity-rich neighborhood, with excellent connectivity—the Federal Gateway building is right across the street from the Navy Yard-Ballpark metro station.
Unity selected McKissack & McKissack to oversee the interior design of its new headquarters. The 10-story, Class A office building encompasses 298,000 square feet, and includes retail, as well as three levels of underground parking. Recent renovations added a fitness center, several conference centers and a bike storage facility to the building. Retail on the ground floor includes CVS, Five Guys, Subway, and Chevy Chase Bank, and the office tenant roster also features the African Wildlife Foundation, Watkinson Miller and ITS America.
