Known as the "birthplace of mass production," Highland Park is a city with a lot of history. In 1910, Highland Park became home to Henry Ford's first moving assembly line for the production of the Model T. Ford's factory gave way for high wage and middle-class opportunity, which led to large numbers of immigrants coming to the area. The booming population led to the construction of new homes, churches, stores, and more. In 1941, Davison Avenue, a street crossing through Highland Park, went under construction to turn into Davison Freeway, possibly the first urban freeway in the United States.Surrounded by the cities of Detroit and Hamtramck, Highland Park is located in Wayne County off of Davison Freeway, and east of America's most iconic road- Woodward Avenue. Wayne County is Michigan's most populous county and the 19th-most populous county in the United States. Woodward Avenue stretches from Detroit to Pontiac, and is home to Comerica Park, The Fillmore Detroit, the Fox Theatre, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and more.
