Broker

A commercial real estate broker is a licensed professional who handles property transactions, including purchases, sales, and leases, for clients on either side of a deal: landlords, tenants, buyers, and sellers. Brokers are paid a commission, usually a percentage of the transaction value, at closing or on lease execution.

A broker brings market knowledge, access to listings, negotiating help, and management of the transaction itself. Many specialize, either by property type, such as office, industrial, retail, or multifamily, or by role, representing tenants or landlords, and all of them must hold a valid license in the states where they work.
