The owners of 1700 K St. in Washington, D.C. announced that Winston & Strawn, one of the nation's oldest and largest law firms, leased 153,900 square feet in the new office building under development at Connecticut and K Streets. Winston & Strawn signed a 15-year lease and will occupy half of the 8th floor, as well as the entire 9th-12th floors. Winston & Strawn will occupy the top (five) floors of the building - which offers private balconies and views up K Street, Connecticut Avenue and Farragut Park. 1st Quarter 2003 - estimated demolition of existing building/construction of new building. The new building will replace the existing buildings at 1700 and 1730 K St., with approximately 400,000 square feet rising 12 stories, including 18,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space at street level. All tenants of the old buildings have vacated and construction of the new building commenced at the beginning of 2003. 1700 K Street was designed by architects Pei Cobb Freed of New York City, in association with Weihe Design Group of Washington, D.C.
